- A blown fuse in the disconnect box.
- A repeated trip indicates an electrical fault, not a nuisance.

7. Condensate float switch and drain
What you're seeingThe system shut itself down, or the outdoor unit won't start, and there is standing water in the drain pan near the indoor unit.
- A float safety switch has done its job and stopped cooling to prevent water damage.
- The condensate drain line is clogged with biological slime or debris.
- A condensate pump has failed or lost power.
- Cooling will not resume until the water level drops and the drain flows again.

8. Fan runs, compressor doesn't (capacitor or contactor)
What you're seeingThe outdoor fan spins but you never hear the deeper compressor sound, or the unit hums and clicks without starting.
- A failed run capacitor is a frequent cause of a compressor that will not start.
- A worn contactor may not be closing the circuit reliably.
- A compressor drawing high current can trip protection repeatedly.
